COPPER ID BRACELETS

GREEN VALLEY LAPIDARY & SILVERSMITH CLUB AND SHERIFF’S AUXILIARY VOLUNTEERS FORM A UNION

During the 2001 Green Valley Lapidary & Silversmith Club Fair, Ann Kirch from the Sheriff’s Auxiliary Volunteers of Green Valley, Arizona, Inc. (SAV) approached Vern Hansen a member from the Green Valley Lapidary & Silversmith Club(GVL&SC) about some kind of personal identification for Green Valley Senior Citizens. They discussed the situation with Roger Hasey, another SAV member, also, a GVL&S member and tentatively agreed on a bracelet. Vern contacted friend and fellow Club member, Bob Oldendorph. Using Bob’s floral design they made a Copper Cuff Bracelet for approval by the SAV Citizen Care Program and the GVL&SC Board of Directors. Both approved the Identification Bracelet concept with GVL&SC agreeing to purchase the necessary material and provide manpower.

GVL&SC and SAV have reached a milestone. 0n February 9, 2005 GVL&SC presented SAV with their 100th Copper Cuff Bracelet. To date over 112 Copper Identification Bracelets have been produced and donated to SAV. In addition to Hansen, Hasey, Oldendolph, Tony Mio, Harold Meitl, John Blossfield, Bill Melichar, Roy Estes and Lee Nisewander have donated their time in making these attractive and most necessary Bracelets. “The Copper Cuff Bracelets are lacquered to prevent tarnishing and rubbing off of needed identification” says Bob Oldendorph.

These attractive and useful Copper Bracelets can, only, be obtained through the SAV Citizen Care Program and are strictly made by the GVL&SC. There are brochures at Joyner/Green Valley Library and SAV office, on what information should be submitted to obtain a Copper Cuff Identification Bracelet.

As long as Green Valley Lapidary & Silversmith Club and the Sheriff’s Auxiliary Volunteers are in existence our Green Valley senior citizens are well protected and this needed (lovely) union should last a long, long time.
